 Lelit: Classic Style + Quality Jul 20, 2008
I love my Lelit machine! It's made of polished stainless steel which looks sleek in my
kitchen and matches my other chrome appliances. I did have to clear some space for
it because it does take up a lot of room. But it's worth it. The design of it is
really classic, and doesn't look too modern or cosmic, and isn't made of cheap plastic,
which I was worried about. Pretty, great, solid, and respectful appearance. Since it's
pretty heavy (I'd guess around 25-30 pounds?) I plan on leaving it right where it is,
which is fine because I use it so often! I'd say that I make at least two cups a day
every day and maybe 3-4 cups on especially sleepy days. It gives me rich coffee every
time. I can't say much about the frothing because I'm not a fan of cappuccino. I prefer
my espresso strong and straight up, thank you! Either way, I'm sure you'll like this
machine as much as I do!

Someone once said there is no ideal espresso. Well I don't know about that.
In the past, you've probably tried espresso in local coffee shops, espresso
stands, and in fancy restaurants. Now you want to recreate this taste in your home.
And you want a decent machine. And so you start researching: first going online
and checking all the reviews, then comparing prices and features, and at last picking
the winner, paying your price and anticipating your very own, ideal espresso.
We did the same thing. The inspiration for our idea of the 'ideal' espresso taste
was the one that we tried in Venice, Italy. So we decided that our first machine
had to be of Italian origin. We didn't want to compromise on that. We also didn't
want it to be fully automatic. Because who wants or trusts espresso prepared automatically
without touch of a human hand? And of course we didn't want to break the bank by spending
too much.
Our choice was Lelit 42 LET. First off, let me mention that we are risks-takers that
like taking chances (sometimes this is very dangerous). Anyway, we decided to go with a
machine that is almost unknown here in the US (though very familiar in Italy and Europe).
We thought that, since true Italians buy this machine, they have to be the real deal.
And we were convinced because the entire machine is completely designed and (even more
importantly) manufactured in Italy, and not just assembled there.
The price was also kind to our wallets. We got this particular machine for much less than
a Ransillio, (only because the Lelit brand is not as well-known as Rancillio - the great
quality yet cheaper price was fine by us!). We certainly lucked out and were rewarded for
risk-taking. This machine has everything we wanted. Thankfully, the espresso and cappuccino
are exactly how we remembered them tasting in Venice (although, of course, you might have
another standard to measure up to). Overall, it's been very easy to maintain, and really
runs like clockwork. Because it works so great, we don't care what's making it work as
long as it keeps giving us delicious espresso. It's been a great buy all around.
Definitely a great machine for a great price. Another satisfied customer here!
